First Post

Students, welcome to the 21st Century Physical Education Blog. As part of Personal Fitness Concepts we will develop a "Virtual Gym" where students, parents, teachers, the community, and world can come for information on a wide variety of physical education and health related topics.

The Personal Fitness Concepts course will cover the basic components of fitness, which includes cardiovascular health, stress management, muscular strength, endurance training, flexibility, and body composition. Activities will include but are not limited to individual, dual team sports, and strength training. You will learn proper methods, theories, safety precautions, and physical benefits associated with each health related fitness component, as well as how to develop personal fitness plans based on the concepts presented in this course.Over the course of the next 9 weeks I hope that each of us are able to become more healthy and develop a better understanding of the importance of being physically active.

I'll leave you with a quote from Plato who even in early 400 BC had recognized the importance of physical activity.

"Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." Plato
